In the golden month of October, as the Chongyang Festival (Double Ninth Festival) arrived once again, the Shanghai Cultural Society of Calgary (SCSC) organized a special “Warmth in Autumn” outreach event to uphold the traditional Chinese virtues of respecting, loving, and assisting the elderly. The event delivered festive care and sincere blessings to the senior members of our community.
This initiative focused on members over the age of 80 who, due to mobility issues or poor health, are unable to join group activities at the society’s venue. To ensure these esteemed members did not feel forgotten during the festival, directors from the Society, representing all members, made special home visits. They personally delivered Chongyang greeting cards filled with the heartfelt well-wishes of the Society.
This personal, in-home blessing brought immense warmth and happy surprises to the seniors. Some, their voices trembling slightly with emotion as they received their cards, said, “The Society still remembers us, even when we can’t get out!” Others held the cards tightly, repeatedly expressing their joy to the visiting directors, saying, “I am just so happy!”
This was more than just a simple holiday visit; it was a transfer of warmth from the entire Society family. It delivered genuine festive care directly to the hearts of the seniors and allowed the fine tradition of “honouring our elders” to be vividly reflected in their sincere excitement and happy smiles.
The Shanghai Cultural Society of Calgary extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the directors who dedicated their time and effort to this event. Moving forward, the Society will continue to uphold its founding principles, care for its members, serve the community, and carry this warmth and compassion forward.

岁岁重阳，情暖夕阳：
卡城江浙上海联谊会开展“重阳送暖”上门慰问活动
金秋十月，又逢重阳。为弘扬中华民族“敬老、爱老、助老”的传统美德，在一年一度的重阳佳节之际，卡城江浙上海联谊会特别策划并开展了“重阳送暖”慰问活动，向会内的高龄长者们送上节日的关怀与诚挚的祝福。
本次活动重点关注的是本会部分80岁以上、因腿脚不便或身体欠佳而无法亲临会所参与集体聚会的长者。为了不让这些老会员们在节日中感到孤单，联谊会的理事们代表全体会员，专程上门探访，将一张张满载着联谊会心意的重阳慰问卡，亲手交到他们手中。
这份“上门”的祝福，让长者们倍感温暖与惊喜。有的老人家在接过卡片时，声音带着些微颤抖，感动地说道：“（联谊）会所还想着我们这些走不动的呀！” 还有的长者紧紧攥着卡片，反复向到访的理事们表达自己的喜悦之情，连声说“太高兴了”。
一声问候，一份心意。这不仅仅是一次简单的节日慰问，更是联谊会大家庭温情的传递。它将节日的关怀实实在在地送到了长者的心坎上，也让“尊老敬老”的优良传统，在长者们真切的激动与欣慰的笑意里，得到了最生动的体现。
