On August 24, 2025, a perfect sunny day in the Rockies, the Calgary Jiang Zhe Shanghai Association successfully hosted its highly anticipated “Cool Summer Banff One-Day Trip.”
This event was made possible through the generous funding from Calgary’s Family & Community Support Services (FCSS).
Three tour buses, filled with joy and laughter, departed on time, carrying a total of 120 participants, including association members, clients of the Golden Years Wellness Program, dedicated volunteers, and representatives from partner organizations, all heading out for a summer date with Banff National Park.
The journey began with high spirits. As the convoy headed west along the scenic Trans-Canada Highway, the view transformed from cityscapes to the majestic Rocky Mountains. Our first stop was Johnston Canyon. Everyone enjoyed a refreshing walk along the forest boardwalk, with the sound of babbling brooks and the sight of spectacular waterfalls, breathing in the fresh, crisp air that swept away the summer dullness.
Next, the buses drove into the charming Town of Banff, where everyone explored in small groups. Some browsed the delightful specialty shops, while others enjoyed the leisurely afternoon sun in the central park. Following this, we visited the birthplace of Canada’s National Parks—the Cave and Basin National Historic Site. Through vivid exhibits and the unique underground hot spring cave, we deeply felt the rich history of this land.
The afternoon was filled with highlights. At the powerful Bow Falls, everyone paused to feel the cool mist from the cascading water, a legendary site made famous by the film “A River Runs Through It.” We then ascended to the classic viewpoint, Surprise Corner, which offered breathtaking views of the majestic Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, nestled like a Scottish castle in the Bow Valley, drawing gasps of awe. Our final stop was the uniquely shaped Hoodoos, ancient rock pillars carved by millennia of wind, standing like silent guardians of this magical land.
In the evening, the convoy returned to Calgary, filled with wonderful memories, and a grand dinner was held at Fu Li Gong Seafood Restaurant. Everyone shared stories and joy from the day, bringing a perfect end to a safe, happy, and successful trip.
First and foremost, we must extend our special thanks to Calgary’s Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) for their significant financial support, which made this wonderful community event possible.
At the same time, the success of the event is credited to an efficient and caring team. From meticulous planning to on-site coordination, every event coordinator worked tirelessly. Furthermore, we wish to extend our highest respect and sincerest gratitude to all the volunteers! Your enthusiastic guidance, your busy work distributing meals, and your attentive care for our seniors created the warmest moments of the trip. Your selfless dedication is the best embodiment of our association’s spirit of community service!
Finally, we sincerely thank every participant for their active cooperation. The Calgary Jiang Zhe Shanghai Association will continue to strive to bring more and better events to everyone. We look forward to gathering with you all again to create more wonderful memories!
